## Hostinger, beyond the scorecard

Plan details as published on hostinger.com, September 2026 — verify with the vendor before you buy.

### Plans, as published

Hostinger's shared lineup runs three tiers as published in September 2026: Premium at $2.99/mo, Unlimited at $3.99/mo, and Cloud Startup at $7.99/mo — every one of those prices requires a 48-month prepay. Premium's real checkout number is $143.52 up front for four years. All tiers include a free domain for the first year, free SSL, and a 30-day money-back guarantee.

The control panel is hPanel, Hostinger's own build — cleaner than cPanel for a first-time buyer, but different enough that cPanel tutorials and cPanel-based backup archives don't transfer over directly.

### The renewal math

The renewal deltas, from our September 2026 verification pass: Premium renews at $10.99/mo (about 3.7× the intro rate), Unlimited at $16.99/mo (about 4.3×), and Cloud Startup at $25.99/mo (about 3.3×). Over an 8-year horizon, a Premium customer pays $143.52 for years 1–4 and roughly $527 for years 5–8 at the published renewal rate.

The honest read: the 48-month intro term is one of the best cash deals in shared hosting, and the renewal cliff is real but four years away. Decide up front whether you'll re-shop at month 47.

Renewal figures come from our Hosting Renewal Price Index (https://digitalhosting.com/articles/hosting-renewal-prices) — intro vs renewal pricing for every provider we cover, verified on vendor sites and dated.

### Choose Hostinger if

- First websites on a tight budget where a 4-year commitment is acceptable
- Beginners who want a modern panel without cPanel's clutter
- Low-to-moderate traffic WordPress sites

### Look elsewhere if

- You want month-to-month flexibility — the advertised price needs 48-month prepay
- You expect consistent performance under heavy or spiky load
- Your workflow depends on cPanel-specific tooling

### Migration notes

Inbound: Hostinger's automated WordPress migration tool is free and initiated from hPanel; non-WordPress sites move by file/database import. Outbound is standard — full backups are downloadable, but note that hPanel backups aren't cPanel-format archives, so moving to a cPanel host later means importing files and databases manually rather than restoring an archive.

### Honest limitations

The advertised entry price is a 4-year lock; the same plan on shorter terms costs meaningfully more at checkout. Mailbox and resource limits on Premium are fine for a small site but tight for a business inbox — Hostinger's own upsell path (email add-ons, Cloud tiers) starts there. And as we note on every budget shared host: performance shares a server with strangers, and Hostinger publishes no load benchmarks we can cite.

### Reported by customers

Dated, attributed accounts from public forums. These are what customers said, not something we verified — we include them because renewal surprises rarely appear on a pricing page. Each carries a status label saying how far we could check it.

- Corroborated by other customers r/Hostinger (https://www.reddit.com/r/Hostinger/comments/1wpsbk8/it_finally_happened/)read September 25, 2026
A customer on a two-year plan reported that the renewal price shown in their account for close to a year was €260, and that a few days before the renewal date it changed to €400 — about 54% more. They said a human support agent described the earlier figure as a sale price and would not renew the existing plan at the rate that had been displayed. A second customer in the same thread reported their own renewal showing roughly three times what they had been paying. A third said, from their experience, that only monthly-billed plans keep their original price, citing a KVM 2 VPS held at $13.99/mo while new orders were listed at $24.99/mo.
Vendor response: No Hostinger staff reply in the thread when we read it. The support-agent statement above is the customer's account of a private chat, not a vendor statement.
What we could check: We have not seen the customers' invoices or account screens, so we cannot confirm the €260 → €400 figures. What we can confirm is Hostinger's published renewal pricing on its own site (see The renewal math above), which already runs 3.3–4.3× the intro rate. The lesson that survives regardless of the disputed details: check the renewal price shown in your account in the final week before auto-renewal, not months earlier, and turn auto-renew off if you intend to re-shop.

Testing status: we haven't load-tested Hostinger ourselves yet. This profile is built from vendor documentation, published plan specs and SLAs, and long-running community reports — and the pricing above is verified on the vendor's site, not copied from marketing. See how we test (https://digitalhosting.com/how-we-test) for exactly what that means.
